Professor Pierre-Richard Ag茅nor awarded Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society
Professor , Professor of in the Department of Economics at The University of Manchester, has been awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society (RES), one of the Society's highest honours.
The Fellowship recognises Professor Ag茅nor's outstanding contributions to the fields of international macroeconomics and development economics, as well as the impact of his work with international organisations including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Reflecting on the award
When you begin your academic career, honours and prizes are not what you set out to achieve. To be recognised, later on, by a jury of one's peers is therefore deeply rewarding. It is also a reminder of the value of dedication and hard work. I am grateful to the University of Manchester for the supportive environment it has provided over the years.
A prestigious recognition
Professor Ag茅nor is internationally recognised for his research on macroeconomic policy, economic development, financial systems and growth, and has advised governments and international institutions throughout his distinguished career.
Earlier this year, Professor Ag茅nor delivered 's annual Arthur Lewis Lecture, where he explored the relationship between gender equality, economic growth and public policy. The lecture highlighted how investments in education, infrastructure and social policy can help address gender disparities while supporting sustainable economic development.
