The graphic novella No Fixed Address, written by Sotiria Kyriakidou and Cristina Temenos from the Department of Geography, has been featured on a Greek national news programme, bringing University of Manchester research on homelessness and urban crisis to a wider public audience.

The novella follows the stories of two men navigating the everyday realities of life in homeless shelters. Based on findings from the Urban Crisis research project, it explores how housing insecurity, public health, austerity and social change shape people鈥檚 experiences of homelessness, including the working conditions of staff in shelter spaces. By using the accessible format of a graphic novella, the project translates academic research into a form that can reach readers beyond the university, including policymakers, practitioners, students, and members of the public.

Its coverage on Greek national television highlights both the public relevance of the research and the importance of creative methods for communicating urgent social issues.

The feature shows how humanities and social science research can contribute to public debate by making complex questions about urban poverty, welfare and care more visible and easier to discuss.
